How the search works
The same search our alerts run, once and on the spot.
Type a term
A brand, a product, a competitor or a phrase. Two words or more are searched as they stand, not as single words.
Three sources at once
Reddit posts, posts on X and pages on the web: news, blogs and forums. Each source answers on its own, and every post goes into one list, newest first.
Checked word by word
Search engines also return posts that only come close. We drop every post in which the term does not appear, and everything older than seven days.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask before they search.
What happened to Social Mention?
Social Mention, the free search at socialmention.com, is no longer available. This page does the same job for the places most mentions happen today: you type a term and see where it was mentioned recently, without an account.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no trial behind it. Each search costs us real money at our data providers, so there are 3 new searches a day per connection and a monthly limit for everyone. A term someone searched in the last 24 hours comes back instantly and does not count.
Which sources does it search?
Reddit, X (Twitter) and the web, which means news sites, blogs and forums. Facebook groups are left out: they have to be named one by one, which an alert can do and a quick search cannot.
Why only seven days and five posts per source?
It is meant to answer one question fast: is anyone talking about this right now? For a complete picture over time, an alert collects every new post from the day you create it.
Do you store what I search for?
The term and the posts we found, for 30 days, so the result link keeps working and the same search is not paid for twice. Your IP address is not stored; it is only used, in a scrambled form and for one day, to count the searches per connection. Details are in our privacy policy.
How do I get new mentions automatically?
Create an alert with the same term. KeywordWatchr then keeps checking Reddit, X, the web and the Facebook groups you choose, and sends what is new by email, and on Pro by Slack or webhook too. How it compares to other tools: KeywordWatchr alternatives.
